TYPHOON PEPENG

October 8, 2009, Typhoon Ondoy left the vicinity of Central Luzon which caused floods and took away lives. On the same day Typhoon Pepeng landed in the Philippines, particularly in Northern Luzon. With its heavy and continous rainfall for how many days caused floods and landslides. It took away lives and properties of many. Its explanation was soil was saturated with water that causes the loosening of soil which causes slides.

The road before the typhoon

Mud... the kids first step on the mud...
While crossing on the mud with baggage of things, a good samaritan, came along to help us carry our baggage down the mountain until we reach the highway.

There used to be riprap here supporting the Lamtang Elementary School,
it just happened overnight. People had a hard time opening just one side of the road to have access to the city.

collapsed during the typhoonBelow Lamtang Elementary SchoolStill below Lamtang Elementary School

The way going out of our barangay...we thought that this was the only slide, but we we're wrong as we go further...there were more and more slides...
Bayanihan is still alive during this time. People from our barangay especially men helped each other to clear the road. Everybody carrying their shovels on their back just like the seven dwarfs.

A kind hearted man, used his small loader to help and another samaritan shared his gasoline for the loader

More slides as we go further down the highway

we crossed this path just to reach the highway...
with the kids in our hands and some important baggages

The creek used to be deep but after the typhoon. It washed away parts of the fields

This used to be a free flowing creek but its now mud...

There used to be a stairs going up connecting people from the mountains...
just a few meters away from our house.

Inspite of the things that happened...thank God for we are still safe and alive. And we would not leave our place, for people there are very good and kind.
Thanks to people who have helped us during that event.
Thanks to my sister Ma-an who have accomodated us when we have evacuated and served as lunch. And thanks to Lola Lu (Laurence mother) and family who have helped us and shared with us their home.

THANKS BRO!
